Target Audience

Through our research, questionnaire and other planning we have found the best target audience to aim for. We decided that we shouldn’t aim to be gender specific and found through our research and our questionnaire that horror movies are commonly watched by couples. We will incorporate this in our media product by not making it male specific and considering a female audience. This would be done by the use of a relationship within the narrative of the entire piece which would relate to couples. Because our piece is more of a suspense film and not necessarily about gore and blood it relates more toward both genres and not necessarily male specific like the common codes and conventions of a normal horror film.


When considering the age for our target audience we thought it necessary to aim for an 18-30 year old audience. The reason we thought this is because as I stated before we are aiming to make our film for couples to watch. The majority of newlyweds and people in relationships who would generally go to the cinema to watch a film are age 18-30. This would incorporate to our piece as we wouldn’t go for a childish theme but go for a sophisticated subgenre plot of possibly a mystery and have suspense and not simply rely on gore.


In conclusion , our marketing campaign is going to be aimed at couples aged between 18-30 years of age. Throughout are material we will use aspects of a couples day to day routine which they can familiarise themselves with.
